Initiative towards establishing a better-work-related accident, injury, and disease monitoring and reporting system for the textile and apparel sector in Bangladesh
Objectives: The project objective is to closely monitor different hazardous industrial sectors in the country for serious injuries, disabilities, and deaths caused by occupational accidents, occupational diseases, or work-related diseases. Further, cases of such injuries are followed up and victims are interviewed as to whether they have applied for compensation benefits from any existing program or schemes run by the government and, if so, whether their cases have been approved as well as the amount of the received benefits.
Based on the objectives stated above, the project will be implemented to full fill the following needs:
- Inclusive surveillance of Bangladesh for serious injuries, disabilities, and deaths caused by occupational accidents, occupational diseases, or work-related diseases.
- Established a comprehensive data management information system in an agreed framework to channelize the data easily among the target groups and workers groups have improved capacity to access data within this system.
- Developed case management and service delivery mechanism to provide support to the victims, for ensuring financial compensation.
Focused: The target group comprises the workers and employees in the occupational accident and hazard prone industries in Bangladesh.
